Jump Rope for Heart
Structure of the program
...the aim is to get their entire school involved.
Each year, TTASPE schedules one day practical workshops for teachers that focus on the basics of introductory jump rope skills and lead up activities, as well as single rope, partner and long rope skills. A portion of the day is also devoted to exploring ways that the concepts of health education could be integrated with the other subject areas. At the end of the day the teachers know that the aim is to get their entire school involved.
After the workshops the teachers introduce the concepts taught to their charges towards the end of having an internal jumping day in their schools. These jumping days are an opportunity for all the children in a school to showcase their skills in a non-competitive environment. These jumping days are meant to focus attention on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Jumping day
In 2005 two district festivals were held in the St. Patrick and Caroni Educational district leading up to the national festival that was held in June 2005. These district and national festivals are to be an on-going feature of this project and TTASPE is committed to see that they grow in popularity and participation.
