Jump Rope for Heart

Project Overview

Jump Rope for Heart is a program that encourages primary school children to enjoy healthy lifestyle activities and make informed nutritional meal choices. The program is facilitated by teachers and community volunteers and it combines the simple, low cost, fun-filled physical activity of jumping rope with an integrated curriculum approach that has the potential of infusing health information and education into other subject areas.

The main intention of the Jump Rope for Heart program is a pre-emptive approach to addressing the problems associated with Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (CNCDs). These diseases can arise from unhealthy meal choices and irregular physical activity. Through this program children can discover the joy of being engaged in a physically active program that is fun and learn the importance of nutritional meal choices.
