SERVING THE YOUTH OF EAST PORT OF SPAIN
The East POS Development Company partnered with TTASPE for a project called “Sports Plus’. The project was aimed at putting social infrastructure in place to help develop the people of the community. The project, which was recently concluded, saw the introduction of many sporting disciplines such as swimming, football, golf and basketball to create an environment of learning for the under-served youth of East Port of Spain.More...

Sport for Life! Trinidad and Tobago – a non-profit organization, on Tuesday March 4 th, 2009, launched its first learning centre at the Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC).The purpose of these centres is to use the power of sport to change the lives of children who are failing to reach their full potential at school and in society. ICHPER SD CONFERENCE IN TRINIDAD & TOBAGO
"Building a Caribbean Legacy for Sport and Physical Education"
At the last ICHPER-SD World Congress, held in Japan in June 2008, the Board of Governors approved the establishment of the Caribbean as the eighth region of ICHPER-SD. Following meetings between ICHPER-SD President, Dr. Dong Ja Yang and UTT President, Professor Kenneth Julien, it has been agreed that the Academy of Sports and Leisure at UTT would have the honour of hosting the ICHPER-SD Caribbean Secretariat. Additionally, it has also been agreed that the UTT will host the Inaugural ICHPER-SD Caribbean Regional Congress in Trinidad on May 27th-31st 2009. The Congress will cater for three hundred (300) delegates from the local, regional and international arena in the field of sport and physical education. More...

GAME ON UPDATES
The January - March 2009 quarter has been very successful for Game On Caribbean. Most significantly the existing countries remain committed to Game On despite cuts to their budgets. This is evident by the increased participation in Game On and demand for follow up workshops. Dominica and St. Lucia in particular have expanded the number of schools and teachers that use Game On as their in-school PE program every school term. More

READY AND ABLE
The Ready and Able program, operated by The Trinidad and Tobago Alliance for Sport and Physical Education (TTASPE), is geared toward providing opportunities for persons with disabilities to become involved in sport and physical education programs. It utilizes sport as a development tool; fostering healthy active lifestyles for persons with disabilities. More...
NURTURING CHILD-FRIENDLY COMMUNITIES
Boxing
During the reporting period coach Noel trained EDACSC Boxing Coordinator – a 19 years young man named Vurland Kerr with financial support from EDACSC. Vurland has participated in two official boxing competitions in Trinidad with outstanding results. Vurland and coach Noel were interviewed by local TV Channel 5 in February having the opportunity to speak about the benefits of boxing activities in Speyside and the club EDACSC.
Regular boxing sessions will resume from March 2009 at Spesyide Community Centre. EDACSC coordinator for boxing is currently seeking the commitment of at least 10 children and adolescents willing to participate consistently in the activity. Coach Mr. Noel has committed himself to deliver 2 sessions a week during a 5 months period for a total of 40 sessions.
Vurland Kerr has now become a role model for younger children in the community.
